what were your RESPONSIBILITIES as an intern?
I place accounts with outside counsel and third-party collection agencies, draft and send attorney demand letters to initiate litigation on delinquent clients, and update internal records using collection agency systems. Since IPFS helps businesses finance their insurance premiums, my work supports the company’s efforts to recover funds when clients default on their loan agreements.
What was your favorite/most memorable part of your internship
Spending a day in NYC to sit in on Pillsbury’s Continuing Legal Education marathon classes was an amazing experience. I also met Frank Friedman, the CEO of IPFS (and former COO of Deloitte), which was a great opportunity to hear his perspective on the company and premium finance industry.
Walk us through a day in the life of your internship?
I kick off the day by checking in with my manager or coworkers to see where I can pitch in. From there, I dive into account databases and Excel files to draft attorney demand letters, review collection agency notes, and update internal records. Throughout the day, I sit in on meetings with general counsel, take on projects from the director, and help coworkers who are behind on their accounts. I’ve also built a quiet reputation for having the best lunch picks in the office.
